Hi!

Welcome to my blog. I'm Ebru, an avid home cook who loves writing about food. Here I share recipes from my cookbook library and many more!

Ella's Pick-Me-Up

Ella's Pick-Me-Up

Ella Mills started her blog Deliciously Ella back in 2011 as a personal project to cure her illness. To her surprise, it attracted a lot of followers in a short space of time through word of mouth. On the back of her successful blog, she has published 4 books, launched an app and opened 2 delis in London with her business partner and husband, Matthew. She leads the Clean Eating clan ( she hates the term) and although she won't call herself vegan, she recipes are plant based. I have followed her story from the beginning, before she became a huge Instagram phenomenon and I have met her a couple of times, attending her book and business events as well as her cookery class. What I love about her is that her recipes make you want to eat more fruits and vegetables. This recipe is taken from her little book Deliciously Ella Smoothies & Juices and it's perfect to wake you up in the dark wintry mornings. For this recipe, Ella uses a juicer but since I don't have one, I have used my Nurtibullet blender. You will be fully awake within seconds of drinking this. It's also great if you are feeling down or have a cold.

Recipe • Serves 2:

  • 2 Lemons
  • 1 knob of ginger
  • 1 teaspoon of cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • sprinkle of cayenne pepper

Cut the skin off the lemons and take out the pips. Then cut them into small pieces. Peel the ginger (you can do this by using a spoon). Add the pieces of lemon and ginger in a blender and whizz until smooth. Stir in the remaining ingredients and finally, pour the thick liquid into small glass shots and serve
